Pepi, Luci, Bom and other Girls on the Heap. (1980, 82 min.)

Luci, a self-sacrificing housewife (Eva Silva -Ana Curra), her "modern" neighbour (Pepi/Carmen Maura) and a lesbian sadist rocker (Bom/Olvido Gara "Alaska") are an impossible trio of apparently contrasting lives which are brought together with a resulting change in direction of all their lives, especially Luci. Immersed in the frenzy of the Movida Madrileña, chance occurrences change the destiny of all the characters.

Anything is possible in the midst of a cathartic Madrid. The action centres on the couple of Sexilia (Cecilia Roth), a young erotomaniac, and Riza Niro (Imanol Arias), the homosexual son of an Arab emperor.

Yolanda (Cristina Sánchez Pascual) decides to recover from the sudden death of her boyfriend by taking some time to reflect in the supposed peace and quiet of a convent. There she discovers to her astonishment the endless and multiple addictions of the nuns. The cast of actresses includes Carmen Maura, Marisa Paredes, Cecilia Roth and other pioneer "Almodóvar Girls".

What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1984, 101 min.)

Gloria (Carmen Maura) is an unhappy housewife addicted to amphetamines who is suffering from withdrawal syndrome. In desperation she kills her husband, following which events unfold like a nightmare. Verónica Forqué and Chus Lampreave complete the cast of this neorealist work.

Matador

Matador (1986, 110 min.)

Diego Montes (Nacho Martínez) is a retired bullfighter turned post-coital murderer. The nostalgia for the ring drives him crazy and he begins murdering his lovers just after they reach orgasm, it being the only pleasure which calms his anxieties. Antonio Banderas, Eusebio Poncela and Asumpta Serna make up the first-class cast of this film.

The Law of Desire

The Law of Desire (1987, 102 min.)

Pablo (Eusebio Poncela) and Tina (Carmen Maura) are siblings indelibly marked because Tina, aged 20, used to be Tino and slept with the father of both. Pablo lives miserably in love with Juan (Miguel Molina) when he meets Antonio (Banderas), complicating the trio. A film of pure desire.

Dubbing actors Pepa (Carmen Maura) and Iván (Fernando Guillén) are a couple until they split up. Pepa expects the impossible while her house fills with people (Antonio Banderas, María Barranco, Rossy de Palma...). A hit of neurastenia and gazpacho.

Tie me Up! Tie me Down! (1989, 111 min.)

Ricky (Antonio Banderas) is obsessed with a porn star (Victoria Abril) who he slept with on one occasion. To win her love he kidnaps her. The captivity results in a relationship riddled with visits and pursuits which drive Ricky completely round the bend.

High Heels

High Heels (1991, 113 min.)

The husband of Rebeca (Victoria Abril) was originally the great love of her mother, the diva "Becky del Páramo" (Marisa Paredes). The two meet following his murder. The judge assigned the case (Miguel Bosé) is also a drag-queen by night, a fan and emulator of Becky.

Kika

Kika (1993, 100 min.)

Paul Bazo, an ex porn star who has recently escaped from jail, hides out in the house of his sister, a friend of Kika, who is sleeping peacefully in one of the bedrooms. He sees her and, unable to resist, rapes her.

The Flower of my Secret

The Flower of my Secret (1995, 103 min.)

Leo Macías, a writer of romantic novels, hides behind the pseudonym of Amanda Gris (Marisa Paredes). Paco (Imanol Arias), her husband, participates in a Peace mission in Bosnia. Leo cannot live without him and is lost in all aspects of her life, including the literary sense.

A young woman and three armed men cross paths in a house. Elena is waiting for her dealer, two are policemen-David (Javier Bardem) and Sancho (José Sancho)-, and Víctor (Liberto Rabal) is a teenager who is obsessed with Elena. A tense argument breaks out. Two years later they meet again, and nothing will ever be the same.

All about my Mother

All about my Mother (1999, 105 min.)

Manuela (Cecilia Roth) feels the overriding need to search for the father of her son, who she has just lost in an accident. The main obsession of the boy was to find out who his father was, something which his mother had always hidden from him. With this in mind Manuela travels to Barcelona, where she meets the father once more, although now transformed into Lola (Toni Cantó).

Talk to Her

Talk to Her (2001, 112min.)

Two men sit together in the darkness of a theatre. The play moves them both and they can't avoid tears from falling down their cheeks. Months later they meet each other in hospital. One of them works there looking after a woman who has been in a coma for various years, while the other goes to visit his girlfriend, a bullfighter who is also in a coma following a bullfight. This marks the beginning of a surprising friendship between two men in love with two recovering patients. Cast: Javier Cámara (Benigno), Leonor Watling (Alicia), Darío Grandinetti (Marco), Rosario Flores (Lydia), Geraldine Chaplin (Catarina)

Bad Education

Bad Education (Fecha de estreno:18 de Marzo de 2004)

The story of the friendship between two boys and a priest, which begins in the decade of the 1960's and continues over 30 years. With performances by the Mexican actor Gael García Bernal, Fele Martínez, Lluis Homar, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Juan Fernández and Javier CámaraThis film will inaugurate the Cannes Film Festival next 12 May 2004. The international release will begin as from that date.
