What is DELE?
The Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera
(DELE) is an official qualification which certifies students´
competence and mastery of the Spanish language. It is granted by the
Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education,
Culture and Sports.
How many levels does DELE have?

The Diploma de Español Inicial certifies
a level of linguistic competence which is sufficient to understand
and react adequately in the most common situations of everyday
life and communicate wishes and needs in a basic way.

The Diploma de Español Intermedio certifies
a level of linguistic competence which is sufficient to deal with
typical situations of everyday life, in normal communication circumstances
which do not require specialised use of the language.

The Diploma de Español Avanzado
certifies a level of linguistic competence which is sufficient
to deal with situations which require an advanced use of the language
and knowledge of associated cultural factors.
